Did you fail a DOT drug or alcohol test? Worried about what’s next and if you’ll ever be able to work in the trucking industry again?
I'll explain everything you need to know if you have concerns about this. I'll start by explaining when and why you may be drug or alcohol tested, how you get your results and what happens if you receive a positive test. I'll also explain the consequences of a test refusal. Your test results will show up in the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
If you receive a positive drug or alcohol test (or refuse a test), you’ll need to undergo a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program before you can return to the trucking industry. After you complete the program, some carriers will hire you, while some will not. Before you undergo the SAP program, carefully consider your options and which companies you’ll be able to drive for if you decide to complete the program.
