Seeing your check engine light turn on while you’re going down the road is one of the last things you want to happen as a truck driver. Truck problems are difficult to avoid, but taking care of the problem early on can prevent bigger issues.

I'll take you through eight signs a breakdown might be on the horizon, including:

• The truck won’t start

• Your fluids are low

• You lose engine power

• Your fuel economy has decreased

• You can’t get into gear

• Your truck is shaking or vibrating

• You hear weird sounds

• Your stack turns black

If you spot the warning signs in time, you may be able to prevent a major breakdown.
